Check slot availability

Read-only
LatePoint Booking & Events latepoint/check-slot-availability

Check whether a given date/time slot for a service and optional agent is free of conflicting approved bookings.

Requires the LatePoint plugin on WordPress 6.9+ (the WordPress Abilities API is only available from 6.9 onward). All abilities also require the site's 'latepoint_abilities_api' master toggle to be enabled; write abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_edit' setting, and destructive abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_delete' setting. Each ability further requires the current user to hold the matching LatePoint capability (e.g. 'booking__view', 'customer__edit'), and some abilities also verify the user is allowed to act on that specific record.

What it does

This ability checks a single candidate booking slot — service, date, start time, and optionally a specific agent and location — against existing approved bookings. It computes the slot's end time using the service's configured duration (falling back to 60 minutes if the service can't be found or has no duration set), then counts any approved bookings on that date whose time range overlaps the slot, scoped to the given agent if one was provided. It's a lightweight yes/no availability check rather than a full slot search, useful right before confirming a specific booking time.

See it in action

You ask your AI assistant

"Is agent 3 free on 2026-07-10 for a booking starting at 9:00 AM (540 minutes from midnight) for service 7?"

Inputs

Name Type Required Description
service_id integer Yes Service ID.
date string Yes Date to check (Y-m-d).
start_time integer Yes Start time (minutes from midnight).
agent_id integer No Agent ID to check availability for.
location_id integer No Location ID to check availability for.

Returns

An object with 'available' (boolean — true if no approved bookings overlap the requested slot) and 'conflicts' (an array, which this implementation always returns empty).

Permission

This ability declares an empty permission string and overrides check_permission() to unconditionally return true. It requires no LatePoint capability and, unlike every other ability in this directory, its permission check is not gated by the site's 'latepoint_abilities_api' master toggle either — that toggle is enforced inside the base class's check_permission(), which this ability bypasses entirely. Because it is read-only, it is always registered.
