Create agent

Write
LatePoint Booking & Events latepoint/create-agent

Add a new staff member (agent) to LatePoint so they can be assigned to services and take bookings.

Requires the LatePoint plugin on WordPress 6.9+ (the WordPress Abilities API is only available from 6.9 onward). All abilities also require the site's 'latepoint_abilities_api' master toggle to be enabled; write abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_edit' setting, and destructive abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_delete' setting. Each ability further requires the current user to hold the matching LatePoint capability (e.g. 'booking__view', 'customer__edit'), and some abilities also verify the user is allowed to act on that specific record.

What it does

This ability creates a new LatePoint agent record representing a staff member. You provide at minimum a first name and email address, and can optionally include a last name, phone number, bio, and a linked WordPress user ID. The new agent is saved with an active status and returned with its assigned ID and creation/update timestamps. This lets an AI assistant onboard a new staff member in one step instead of using the LatePoint admin screens.

See it in action

You ask your AI assistant

"Add a new agent named Jane Doe with email jane@example.com and phone 555-1234."

Inputs

Name Type Required Description
first_name string Yes First name.
last_name string No Last name.
email string Yes Email address.
phone string No Phone number.
bio string No Short bio.
wp_user_id integer No Link to WordPress user.

Returns

Returns the newly created agent as a serialized object (id, first_name, last_name, full_name, email, phone, status, bio, wp_user_id, created_at, updated_at); returns a validation error if the agent could not be saved.

Permission

The current user must have LatePoint's 'agent__create' capability, and both the 'latepoint_abilities_api' and 'latepoint_abilities_api_edit' settings must be enabled.
