Update location is a WordPress ability from LatePoint — usable via Easy MCP AI, which connects Claude, ChatGPT, and any AI assistant to your site.
Install Free Plugin →Update location
WriteUpdate one or more fields on an existing location.
Requires the LatePoint plugin on WordPress 6.9+ (the WordPress Abilities API is only available from 6.9 onward). All abilities also require the site's 'latepoint_abilities_api' master toggle to be enabled; write abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_edit' setting, and destructive abilities additionally require the 'latepoint_abilities_api_delete' setting. Each ability further requires the current user to hold the matching LatePoint capability (e.g. 'booking__view', 'customer__edit'), and some abilities also verify the user is allowed to act on that specific record.
What it does
This ability updates an existing location identified by its numeric ID, changing only the fields you supply. The input schema accepts name, description, address, phone, email, and category_id, but the current execute() logic only actually applies changes to name, address, and category_id — description, phone, and email values are accepted but not persisted. Returns a not-found error if the ID doesn't match a location, or a save-failed error if the update can't be saved.

You ask your AI assistant
"Update location 12's name to 'Downtown Flagship' and set its category to 4."
Inputs
| Name | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| id | integer | Yes | Location ID to update. |
| name | string | No | New location name. |
| description | string | No | New location description. |
| address | string | No | New street address. |
| phone | string | No | New phone number. |

Returns
The updated location as a serialized object (id, name, description, status, address, phone, email, category_id, created_at, updated_at); returns an error if the location is not found or the save fails.
Permission
The current user must have LatePoint's 'location__edit' capability, and both the 'latepoint_abilities_api' and 'latepoint_abilities_api_edit' settings must be enabled.
